Oh hey, nice to see you here 😁. I had been meaning to start a new blog and it has finally happened. This is technically my second blog. My first one, set up in 2013 is still alive somehow. It was about computer hardware, consumer electronics, and product reviews.
I did write a dozen or so articles on it but then I stopped as competitive exams became the norm of life 😵. The rat races of 10th, 12th, CET, and JEE were run with a blind notion of a goal and everything else was forgotten on the way.
Engineering fixed a lot of things, made great friends and I was back to making YouTube videos. Making new things, bringing ideas to reality is what keeps me up at night. Making YouTube videos was the perfect way to document things along the way.
Why Blog?
I love to document things. My two Instagram accounts (@brain.banter and @neo_here) are my public filing cabinets for photos and key events. Whenever I go back and see my old videos or see my old photographs, I get to see a bigger picture being made. It is easy to forget about yourself as you board the speedy train of adulthood.
One of the things I don't get to do on my YouTube videos and Instagram posts is to write a detailed account of things. Today I have a hard time articulating all my thoughts in the form of a video. As I work on my skills to get better at it, a blog is a perfect addition.
The Story Behind 'neohere'
If you haven't watched The Matrix series, stop reading this post right now and go watch them! I'm not kidding 😂.
I watched the movies in 2014 and became active on Instagram in 2015. Picking a username that is not your actual name was very popular. Plus being a gamer made it a rule to not have your own name as the username. Neo, played by Keanu Reeves is the main character in The Matrix series and that's where my username(s) and the domain name comes from.
Don't ask me how the 'here' in neohere became a thing. I honestly don't remember. Probably because "neo" wasn't available on Instagram when I signed up.
Being an introvert, following people and making friends on Instagram was less intimidating than talking to people in real life. More and more people began to identify me with my username before knowing my real name. Since 2015, I've used "neohere" in one or the other form as my username for all the online platforms.
It was only natural to continue the tradition and get this domain for my blog 💡.
My plans for this Blog
I'm not exactly sure of what's the long term future of this blog. In the nearby future, I want to use it as a personal stomping ground and a platform to write things, explore things and document my various interests.
It also makes it easier to get part-time jobs as a writer when you have a blog to showcase. It's all a part of the hustle. I am curious about what the blog will be 10 years from now and read all the things I've written. But, as of now, it is a good way to nurture the habit of reading and writing and take them to the next level.
If you want to read about the tech side of this blog, you can check it out in the tech section. I will make more posts in the tech section as I continue modifying and hacking Ghost (the CMS which runs this blog) to do what I want.
Unfortunately, I don't have a comments section as of now, I plan to add it soon. If you are reading this you probably know me in real life, so send me a DM :)
